these are pics of my 2 females. the one without pearls, (she is on the bottom) was the one that was nearly killed by my male jd. her tail was completely bitten off. she is about 4 inches long. the pearly female is about 3.5 inches and was too mean to leave with the male. his colors faded and she was hogging all the food, so i moved her out. after i clean the male's tank, i will take some pics of him. he is smaller about 3 inches. and it looks like he is getting pearls on his head. they are just coming in. his color has gotten a little better since i moved the female, but it is still not as good as it was before she started kicking his butt. i am still trying to learn how to use our new camera so the pictures don't show the colors as well as they are in person.

I like the bottom one the best... She is gonna have some great color when she gets bigger! Top fish has nice pearls but a real long face.

this is the male. his tank still needs to be cleaned , but i wanted to get a picture. he is 3 inches. he is still a little beat up from the mean pearly female.


the pearly female is still small. the one you like had the same pointy face until she grew some more. the one you like has a small bump on her head. she has laid eggs once, but she was by herself and she ate them.

they were only $5.00 a piece. i got the pearly ones from a local mfk member. i only went to get a male, but the female had so much color that i couldn't help myself. it is not my fault. it is a serious disease. the other female i got on clearance at the lfs for 4.99

for anyone in the seattle area, there are some more left. there is an mfk member giving away a pair, a 4" male and a 2" female. he is moving and can't take them with him. and i think that the guy i got them from has more. i don't want him to be bothered so if anyone would like some, let me know and i will try to make it happen.
the guy with the pair has posted a thread. "FREE in the seattle area" and his name is dmopar. he got his fish before i did so he probably got some of the best ones.

here is some bad pics of the male one week after removing the evil female. he is starting to get some color back. he and the bp seem to be pairing now. he is doing the CA cichlid pickup lines, ie. whipping her with his tail, doing the shimmy shimmy shake, and they are swimming in unison. he is till too small i think, but when the time comes, all the hard work will be done.
