thats awesome. dimensions?

Its 10'x5'x4.5' as far as the cube of water goes. Its sealed and will hold water up to 6ft and the structure goes up to the ceiling to control air flow.

I'm still holding off on posting a build article, but I'm close. I'm waiting for the current fish stock to get large enough to make a good picture. They just about double their size every month, so it won't be long.

what are you going to stock it with

What I can remember off the top of my head, it’s currently got:

8 Clown Loaches
4 Dojo Loaches
4 Silver dollars
8 Boesemani Rainbow
8 Turquoise Rainbow
24 Rainbow Danios
12 Red Serpea Tetras
12 X-ray Tetras
6 Diamond tetras
30 Neon Tetras
4 Emerald Green Cory catfish
16 Green Barbs
14 Cherry Barbs
8 Flame Gourami
12 Blue Platies
6 Swordtails
Some different goldfish

I plan on getting more Rainbows and silver dollars.

Definitely doesn't look as big as it is. Very nice!

Thanks!

Yeah, it goes back two more feet past the right side of the 4x8 window where 6x6's form a solid wall. Above that is my access hole and where all the utility goes through. I cut that off to make a better picture.

That's a lot of small fish in a huge tank! I'll bet it looks awesome when they're all fully mature though...

A bunch of small schooling fish is a cool effect and was what I was going for. The plan is that by the time the clown loaches start getting real big, most of these smaller fish will be dying off from old age.

Thanks man!

No, most of this build isn't documented. I just bought my first camera since having a flip-flash camera over 25 years ago. And this one is a radio shack special which takes horrible pictures, so I hesitate to even use it. I'm not a picture taker, obviously. The only reason I bought a camera was for this tank. Anyways, I'll be borrowing a nice camera this weekend and will have updated pictures (nice ones I hope) for next week. As with any aquarium picture, the picture never does it justice.

But I'm happy to help if you have specific questions about either the Sanitred or Pond Armor. I can tell you that the instructions for the Sanitred are absolutely horrible. In their quest to condense comprehensive instructions that'll account for any contingency into the fewest pages as possible, what they wound up with is a confusing mess. But when you sort through it, what's left for your situation is usually very easy. The products are all easy to use, with the exception of the instructions. I think this is why some people have had difficulties with the Sanitred and had threads that bashed them on this site. After I re-read those articles, it turned out that they did thing in the incorrect order, which is a shame.

I was all confused

The first thing you would do is prepare the substrate. Meaning remove any loose crumbly substrate, make sure the substrate is clean, dry, free of any previous applied products, and foreign matter.

  1. Prime the sealing surfaces of the glass using ‘Sani-Tred 2-Part Epoxy Primer’ as shown below.
    SafeRedirect.aspx
  1. Prime the plywood with 1 coat of PermaFlex (240 sq ft per gal).
Once the Epoxy Primer has become tack-free, apply 1 coat of PermaFlex over the Epoxy Primer.

  2. Patch and profile any joints, seams, cracks, holes and rough areas using a 3/4" bead of LRB/TAV mixture (Liquid Rubber Base, Thickening Activator).

  1. Apply LRB (Liquid Rubber Base) or LRB/TAV mixture over the entire surface to create a permanent, impervious, waterproof membrane. Our life time warranted membrane is applied @ 80 sq’ per gal (20 mil thick). At this point the substrate is 100% waterproof.
· If possible, apply the LRB to horizontal surfaces and once cured flip the aquarium to apply the LRB membrane to another horizontal surface.
· If the above option is not applicable, LRB can be mixed with TAV to create a thickened mixture which can be applied at any thickness whether vertical or inverted. Less TAV can be used to create a mixture of any viscosity.

  1. Topcoat the surface with 1 coat of PermaFlex (240 sq’ per gal). If Metal Halide, VHO or any other extremely intense lighting will be used apply 1 coat of a good 2-part epoxy or any extremely UV resistant paint.
