From what i was always told. You should have at least 1 fish per 5 gals. to help with the aggression issue. In my 75 I have 16 African cichlids, and they have a lil bit of issue with each other but after chasing for so long they lose the other fish. Just make sure you have plenty of cover for them to hide and some will make it there territory. When I was younger and I had my first 55g tank. I mixed all south and african cichlids together and they were fine. But also on my stupidity I had around 20-23 fish in there.

there are a few exceptions to the rule of "south and central american cichlids dont like hard alkaline water." One is the mayan cichlid who has been spotted breeding in brackish and even salt water. i have an 8 inch mayan with my african mbuna, along with a bonded pair of salvini. i dont reccomend it, but i do like to hear success stories about it!

Large haps are not good for overcrowding. It's the small aggressive fish that you should overcrowd like mbuna's and tropheus'. Hell, I have 21 tropheus and 3 small syn. petricola's in a 75gal, they do just fine :)

As for the fish ID. Def somekind of Vensutus hybrid cross. That head shape is not a Venustus characteristic.
