I think you mean think in your last sentence, but well said.

out of all the 100000 of RTCs that are sold every year i wonder how many of them make it to adult size not many i bet

its a shame this is one kind of fish i think that should be banned from being sold in LFS people just dont seam to care when they are told how big they get and still buy them :(

I have never seen a live RTC, not even at the pet store. If I ever do I WILL let the store know of their big mistake.

i totally agree with you :swear:

this thread makes baby jesus cry *the simpsons*

you dont need to be "pro" to tell that fish needs a bigger tank. you need to bulid a tank that is more like 10'. that mite even be too small. i agree with every thing that sandtiger and the rest of them said.

It takes about 6month from 3" to 12" and will be quite sometime before it grow to super big. Dun know what wrong with you people. It not like tomorrow will be suddenly 4ft fish right. I bet you all never keep this fish before... only worry that they will be very big and all the info is taken from the net only. I know how to keep my fish and I dun need you all to teach. I think you all dun even know what the different between my RTC and other RTC just by the look of the picture.

Your right...I never have kept an RTC. Do you know why? BECAUSE THEY GET TO BIG FOR HOME AQUARIA!!!!!

What’s so hard to comprehend? Your fish has already outgrown the tank it is in believe it or not. No matter how long it takes it to get full size are you honestly going to have a tank able to hold a 4 foot long fish? You better get started on building because not only is it going to take time to build but you also have to cycle the thing. You made a mistake pal...live up to it, do the right thing for the animal and get rid of it.

You also said it took six months for the fish to grow from 3" to 12". Thats 18" a year based on your logic. That means that a year from now the fish will be 30 ". Thats almost three feet!!!! Not only do you have to take size in consideration but also bioload...an animal that size produces a ton of waste, what kind of filtration do you have lined up.

You claim to know what your doing but I have yet to see any evidence that you do. You keep a plecostomus with your RTC and you don't even know what it is...you call it a "sucker". Just curious here...do you feed your "sucker"? or is he going after your RTC because he is starving to death.

no more attacks from me

but it realy pisses me off when people say i will get a bigger tank when i need it as it never happens

my rules are get the biggest tank you can in your house and then stock it then you will never have a need to upgrade your tank and will save money in the long run

if you cant fit a big 10f x 4ft tank in your house now what makes you think you will be able to fit it in next year

the problem with RTC is people put them in a 6x2x2ft and think thats it for life BUT ITS NOT then once the RTC gets to big for a 6x2x2ft tank they are very hard to sell as a 6x2x2ft tank is what most people class as a big tank so that doesnt leave many fish keepers with a tank big enought for home a RTC that is already to big for a 6x2xft tank so whos going to buy the cat
