I'm up at my aunt's lake house in Michigan and I took the peddle boat out for some fishing. I caught about 15 largemouths on the day, all in the 10-15" range. I did have an at least 20 incher come out and smack my frog. He missed it though. It was so loud! I also caught a couple of really nice pumpkinseeds, and a few bluegill. All on my favorite lure ever, the classic floating Rapala! And I also saw a couple of 2-3' longnose gar cruising the shallows. Spooky!
As for the Bowfin, I had to take a video by myself, then take a screen shot of the video. I wasn't about to figure out how to touch him so I reached down and shook the hook with pliers. He pulled me around for 10 minutes! About 25" or so!
And side note... I caught a fish today and I had no idea what it was. It was like a rock bass + sunfish hybrid. It's a pan fish, has a very large mouth, is a goldy brown with some purple. Fights like a truck. Any ideas?
