Train them in late spring. It has to be in full shade but not dark. It has to be under a tree or anything cover on top. Stay away from cold wind. first year some leaf will get damage from the cold. The second year , the new leaf will come out . This time you can bring it out to bright light but sill under a tree or something with filter sun light. I have 5 Monstera that I placed in different location. The one you see at the pond its' leafs will stay all year long. The other I grow out of open, it loses its' leafs in the winter and will grow back in spring time . Not all tropical plant you can train them to grow well in harsh weather. In the past I lost some of them.
Well, now the stock is tropical, but years ago we had koi in it!
The only wild animal that attacked the pond is some Pitangus sulphuratus (sorry but I do not know the english name)! It is amazing to see those birds fishing some swordtails...

Yea. Feio tropical pond is the way to go than a Koi fish pond. Koi need more space, deeper water and a good filter system. I really like tropical pond but the weather here is to cool for it. Have you ever think of putting some cichlids fishes in your pond? They are colorful fish and fast swimmer,that will give the bird a hard time to fishing.
