So, a while back I upgraded my 10 gallon to a 20 gallon. I'm just now getting around to posting pictures. It's nothing special, but I'm slowly building it up. For a while it was fowlr but then I got a piece of live rock that had some zoas hitchiking on it. I've yet to get a good picture of them. I hope they make it because my lighting isn't coral ready yet. My black clown goby had an unfortunate accident where my mother thought he was dead when he wasn't... and now he is dead. I'll need a fish to replace him eventually. Any way, here are some pictures of my tank and the life I've caught lurking there.

Hate that background.

It's blurry, but what the hell is this thing?

Tiny brittle star?

I saw this thing once a long time ago, and I finally spotted it again, getting a pic this time.

OMG HALP! I hate this thing. But it's too tricksie to catch.:(

fire worm, take it out or buy a trap to catch it. they are ok in tanks and all tanks gave them, just usally way smaller. large ones can cause problems

Yeah, I hate that thing soooooo much. I had another one before but I killed it by taking the base rock it was in out and letting it dry out. But, the piece of rock this one lives in is nice and purple so I'd hate to do that.

Do you think a lfs would have a ready-made trap or should I order it? I looked up DIY ones, but I can't find a container with a good lid for cutting the triangle in.

nylon stocking with a peice of food in it

lol Thanks. I like free. You know so much, BIGgourami. I'll put it in tonight.

Ok, so I've been surfing the web, and it looks like that blurry thing (second pic) might be a baby mantis shrimp or possibly some type of amphipod. It looked like a little scorpion or something going around on the sand and then retreated under a rock before I got another picture. It was striped, around an inch long, had a long curling shrimp tail, hairy mandibles and pincers of some sort. Very sinister looking. I really hope it isn't a mantis shrimp.

Interesting way of catching the buggers. I spotted one last week haven't seen it since but I'll set a stocking out to catch it lol. I'm fairly sure the one in my tank killed my mandarin dragonet.

Ok, so I tried the stocking trick and got nothing. I baited it with krill. So, I'll try a different bait tonight and give it another shot.

The only thing is that these worms never come out of the rock. I've looked at them with a flashlight covered with red film so they can't see the light. They crawl all over the rock but don't leave it. I'm going to take the rock out today and clean it again, maybe they'll come off on their own.

Someone else also said to get a long piece of pvc and cover one end, put food down in it, and then cover it on the other end and drill a small hole. The worm will go down inside and not be able to get out. Any thoughts?

only reccomendation would be clear PVC.. and that one hole might not spread the scent too well so it could still take some time..

i'd give the nylon one or two more nights.. move it closer if you have to

why clear pvc fireworms dont like the light and would avoid it.
