and then you could see if you got it instead of having to take it out..

No dice with the nylons yet. I'm still going to give it another try tonight. Maybe I need to look for stinkier bait.

I haven't caught them yet... they moved out of the rock, though and they're spread out over the tank. Frustrating. I'm going crazy.

On the bright side, I did figure out that not only does my camera have a macro mode, it also has a digital macro mode. So here are some cool pictures. Ok, so my photography isn't great, but it's getting better.

cool hermit barnacle

Thank you.

Oh, and I got the big worm out the other day. It crawled into a thing of polyps which came attached to a dead sponge. It actually got into the sponge. So, being the smart cookie that I am, I ripped the sponge apart and then sucked the worm out with my target feeder thingie (the name eludes me at the moment). If the sponge had been living I don't know what I would have done, since many are poison when injured and I don't know much about them.

Muhaha in the lab today I brought one in that I caught from my tank. I checked it out under a dissecting scope and a compound. This is what I found out. They have appendages under the groups bristles that they use for gathering oxygen so basically gill appendages. They use their bristles for locomotion. They have what appear to be 4 eyes probably just light sensors I'm unsure. They have cilia at the front of their head and some appendages they use for sensing food. I'm not sure if they are carnivorous, omnivorous or herbivorous. I did get to look at a bristle. They are hollow which means they probably carry some type of neuro-toxin. So just sharing what I learned by observing a small one under a scope.

That's interesting. I've always wondered if those things could see. It seems to convenient that they know to hide when I look at the tank if they can't see... I hate them to say the least. I found another big one, but I'm going to try the inverted soda bottle trick this time.

Big bristle worms really don't cause any harm. They are detritovours and a good part of the clean up crew. If you have an abundance of them in your tank then you are probably over feeding the tank. But having some really don't do any harm they are just ugly, and hurt if you get stuck by one.
