Are you sure you phrased that correctly. Male twice her size and yet you worry about her killing him? If the need ever arises just slip a divider in there.

Yes very sure the male may get killed BY the female, not the other way round. You should see my 13" pleco after getting too close for her liking, his fins are all tattered. She killed a mating pair of jewels and had my male GT in the corner giving him a bit of a thrashing (nothing serious, just a tiff). Then I put my hand in to stop it and she attacked me so I used a small net to try and control her and its screwed now. I can believe how aggressive she it, it amases me, bloody Bi'atch.

The fry are all dead now though so she calmed down, the silver dollars and clown loaches kept darting in and grabbing them and they were just to quick, although even their fins are tattered now.

I've seen it plenty of times. If you keep a male in a community, usually they do fine.Breeding pairs can be complete chaos, for other fish and the male GT.The females get so worked up that they will vent this anger even at the male double its size. One breeding pair I had I would have to pull the male out as soon as the fry hatched ,She would just beat him continually, ripping scales left right and centre.Remove the fry and a day back together, everything was calm until next time.

thank you :) I bought him as a royal if it helps any. mostly people say that they use royal green terror as a marketing term, but with this fish id have to disagree. anyway, no i havent tried new life spectrum. i dont believe its even at any pet stores around here.

that fish is awesome. a lot of lfs here sell spectrum and i guess a lot of people use it. its supposed to be really good but it is kinda expensive.
