they even have a "Tarpon Rodeo" every year in La. further east near port fourchon. LOL
Best fishing in the gulf of mexico is the midnight lump in jan/feb. The yellowfin are awesome.
 
After catching 2 tarpon 5' long and 125 lbs, I couldn't keep one in a tank. they're a bit powerful and big for me.
 
i should research this by myself but a lil lazy at 1AM xD

i THOUGHT the african tarpon is a different varient from the atlanticus that u found in florida ????? and Indo is just totally different and totally freshwater on the other side of the world.... m i right or wrong on this ? englighten me please : )
 
I just got myself 2 5'' tarpons that are native to australia.the freshwater tarpon grow to 2 or 3 ft where the saltwater tarpon grows much,much larger.

different variant.
but not different species.
indos can be found in salt and brackish too i believe.
 
does anyone know the growth rate of them? ive got a two,ones 5'' and the other 6'' and got them in a growout tank with a jag and umbee.They need to hit at least 10'' before getting moved to my main tank.anyone know how long it would take to reach that size?
