Pictus cat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think it would be fine in either tank, I used to keep pictus with Oscar, severuml , etc.
A full grown pictus might eat your cardinals too, if it can catch them

Ya Pictus cats are predators and will eat everything that fits in their mouth.
When I got back into the hobby I started up a 55 with some Pictus, Giant Danios, and some baby cichlids. Well by day three I was down to one Danio, I started with six. You could tell the Cats got them, thier bellies was all swolen. So ya make sure no bite size fish or they will be dinner.

Last question... am I pushing it with the bio load in a 90 gallon getting 3 more fish? Or should I be ok? (I do a 50% water change every other week. And I change a filter sock that's half stuffed with purigen every few days. My nitrate readings have yet to go over 5 ppm... )

The pictus are probably gonna be your last fish for this tank

No doubt! I feel guilty adding them! I wish I could just do 1, but 3 seems to be the agreed minimum. It's so hard-the 55 doesn't even have water in it yet and it's already overstocked in my head:p

It'll be fine with sufficient water changes

It's not that... I just don't want them to feel crowded... lol! (Do fish have feelings???)
Some, just not quite like what we have, they can feel, pain, bored, excited and angry, but never seem to feel remorse, guilt as far as I can tell
