I think it would be fine in either tank, I used to keep pictus with Oscar, severuml , etc.
A full grown pictus might eat your cardinals too, if it can catch them

The pictus are probably gonna be your last fish for this tankLast question... am I pushing it with the bio load in a 90 gallon getting 3 more fish? Or should I be ok? (I do a 50% water change every other week. And I change a filter sock that's half stuffed with purigen every few days. My nitrate readings have yet to go over 5 ppm... )
It'll be fine with sufficient water changesNo doubt! I feel guilty adding them! I wish I could just do 1, but 3 seems to be the agreed minimum. It's so hard-the 55 doesn't even have water in it yet and it's already overstocked in my head![]()
It's not that... I just don't want them to feel crowded... lol! (Do fish have feelings???)It'll be fine with sufficient water changes
Some, just not quite like what we have, they can feel, pain, bored, excited and angry, but never seem to feel remorse, guilt as far as I can tellIt's not that... I just don't want them to feel crowded... lol! (Do fish have feelings???)
