Is it possible to keep pictus catfish with bichirs? I have a palmas, palmas polli and a delhezi in a 75g tank, all about 8" and no longer growing. They've never touched the Siamese algae eater in their tank even when fasting and very hungry. So I'm quite positive they won't try to eat the catfish. But would pictus catfish be too active or inappropriate tankmates for any other reason for them? I appreciate any advice as always.

Btw, anyone else having trouble with the search function? When I click on the search result, I get an error message saying the page is missing. :(

You will probably have to add more food because the Pictus will out compete the slower Polypterus.

My old pictus would stuck in my old laps mouth all the time. Easier with upper jaws. Leave my current blochii alone.

Thank you both. How did you feed them? I mean wouldn't the bichirs meaty diet be insufficient for this omnivorous fish? Should I supplement with algae wafers?

I would not recommend picture for a 4’ tank as in my experience they’re simply too active for such a short tank, 6’ is the minimum length I’d put them in.

That’s good to know, I ended up with three blochi even though I wanted two, so I’ve been debating putting the third with the bichirs

I think the Pictus with these birchirs should be ok, could put three in a 4ft but expect them to squabble. Just make sure they don’t fit in mouths when young.

Three blochi, I assume they are in at least a 6x2 due to their eventual size! They will work out territories too!
