I thought pictus were meant to be relatively peaceful? Mine is more aggressive than my clarias catfish.

It chases around a columbian shark, sometimes chases and tries to nip my bichirs, and has even tried to nip my baby micropeltes and peacock bass.

I can't have anything bothering my peaceful bichirs, so I may feed it to my snakehead.

They like to live in shoals so a lone pictus catfish probably feels uncomfotable. I would be careful feeding it to anything, they have nasty locking spines.

I didn't know that, it was on it's own in the tank I bought it from.

I haven;t seen any spines, do you mean on the dorsal fin or?

yah I would be careful if you feed it to anything, I wouldnt. I had a pictus cat before he did fine with his tank mates, I liked him, but I had him from when he was tiny tiny so he prob. got used to his tank buddies.

The pectoral and dorsal spines. Ever catch bullhead catfish? Know how they lock out their spines? Pictus can do that as well and jam in the fishes throut.

I have two catfish, one is a pictus and one is a white line pimp (very similer, thought they were the same species when I bought them). They were with oscars and convicts and now they are with goldfish. I have had no trouble with them but sometimes they fight and you can hear them squeak. They will eat anything they can fit in their mouths...think of them as mini shovelnoses and redtail catfish.

I quite like it to be honest, it looks nice and it's very active. I just don't want it bothering my other fish, or getting stuck in something's mouth :D

but I had him from when he was tiny tiny so he prob.
Where did you get him from?
i can only get them at larger sizes because i thought you cant breed them???
So i thought they were all wild caught, whihc is a B**tch because they cost around $50
