Pictus cats and corys with cichlids?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Geos would be fine with Corys this they aren't that aggressive but not things like cons, Red Devils, oscars, etc. Some other cichlids I think would be fine with Corys are apistos, rams, kribs, laetacara, etc.
Thanks forgot about clearing up what a SA cichlid is my bad, i was only referring to geos.

The geos aren't the only cichlids I have...I got a green terror, firemouth, Vieja Breidohri and a chocolate cichlid (Everyone is a juvenile except the chocolate who is an 8" male)

If only the geos were the only cichlid I have. I also have a Breidohri, chocolate cichlid, firemouth and green terror (All 3-4" juvies except for the chocolate who is an 8" male)

I had a pair of pictus cats with my africans. One was a little to bold or aggressive and was promptly murdered.

The other cat has survived and is doing quite well after 3 years. He's an opportunistic scavanger and has no problems keeping out of harms way

You could probably have pictis cats, angelfish and cory cats.

Cories do this thing where they dive up and down rapidly. If a fish is in the way it gets nailed. Cories are also very inquisitive and have little concept of territory and "personal space" Most cichlids are not okay with this. I don't recommend corydoras as tank mates to aggressive cichlids. Cories have spines that make them difficult and or hazardous to swallow. It took my JD 3 days to finally bite through one that was lodged halfway in it's mouth. I almost lost them both. If you get the catfish first, get them acclimated and introduce a small juvenile cichlid it can work- for awhile I have a midas that thinks he's an albino cory but he gets annoyed at their 24/7 antics. Some cichlids like to have "quiet time" at night (like my midas) and most catfish like to party late. Just something to think about.
