i am looking into buying a ball python and recently did some looking around and found out about all the different types. and am very interested in the pied ball pythons. so i was just wondering if there are any places i should go looking to buy from. i live in toronto canada and all i can find around here is just reg ball pythons.
oh and any info on a first time snake keeper would be helpfull. (like tank size and such)

k i made a mistake in the name. they are piebald ball pythons.
or if i cant get one of this variety if anyone would know of anything different looking than a reg ball python around Toronto. that would be great

Just for perspective, pastel ball pythons range upwards of $200.

Ball pythons that are merely het (looks normal but carries the gene) for albinism rarely are lower than $400.

An actual albino BP could easily be over $1000 and from what I've been able to dig up, piebalds are very similar in rates.

I would plan on shelling out at least $1000 for a piebald. If you're a first-time snake owner, I suggest trying your hand at something considerably cheaper before investing so much. Baby balls can actually be considerably tricky to deal with (especially in regards to feeding) if not cared for properly.

k what size tank would be ok for life for a ball python? would a 30 gallon be ok?

I don't believe I've seen pied ball pythons for less than $1500, and that's for the ones that have very little white. Male hets are generally $125-$200, and female hets $800-$1200. You can get a male het and a normal female and you've got a decent chance of hatching a couple of pieds in five or six years, but if you're a first-time snaker, you'd probably be better off not going through all that trouble.

A 30-gal would be okay, a 40-breeder would be better (the latter has a bigger footprint - 36"x18" as opposed to the 30-gal's 36"x12")

Smaller enclosures are better for babies, and yes, adults would do well in a 40 breeder tank.

However, if you are thinking of investing ~$2500 for a piebald ball python, I would go with the better option of using plastic display cases over glass tanks for many reasons.

If you're in Canada, check out Markus Jayne Ball Pythons at http://www.ballpythons.ca/

If you were to buy from a U.S. seller, you'd have to go through the CITES process which can be time consuming and expensive.
