like the title say fly river turtle or pig nosed turtle so hard to find these day and so rare why arent there more of these turtle around any input would be great thanks
 
I think they are threatened or endangered in their homeland and they are on one restricted list or another.
 
Funny you mention this. My lfs had a big one, maybe 10-12" diameter. Cute guy. Come to find out some teens came in, distracted the owner and, shoplifted him! I told the owner to keep a look out for a dumb kid missing a finger. But, they're still arround.
 
They are Cites Annex II, which means that they are watched, facing possible danger of extinction, but not yet a worry.

but they are illegal to export out of their country and illegal to import into US? right? but legal to keep the ones (pretty big by now...) that made it here before the ban? technically illegal to sell, but some breeders manage to sell as " scientific research" ?

^ thats all i heard about them therefore i never bothered to get one :|
 
Thread is old now but you may already have your answer. D and D Pets has two large ones in your area. Never asked whether or not they are for sale, but owner son (Young guy) stated they are not uncommon for the area.
 
somebody should start a breeding program for these fast to make them available
