pike id needed please

thanks everyone for all your help.can another sveni be added to my tank,or,is it best one in a tank only????

my lfs has some more svenis in but they are smaller.they are only approx 3".if i could add one more,are these too small????would my sveni eat another sveni if it were smaller,or,would a smaller one be better as it would'nt be a threat to the bigger sveni???

That depends, what size tank is it in and what else is in there? In a big enough tank with a lot of hiding places, you could probably add another. Are you trying for a mated pair?

Typically, you would want to add at least two at a time, instead of just one. That way the estabilished pike won't just focus on that one fish. Adding two gives it two targets, which means less aggression for one fish. You could add one, but there is a chance it will get OWNED. Pikes are pretty aggressive towards other pikes...which is why its best to keep them in groups. Its also a lot easier to get them to pair up if you keep them in groups instead of as two pikes. Your chances of gettin a pair are much higher. Once you do get a pair, you'll have to get rid of or move the other pikes as they will most likely get killed otherwise. They shouldn't pair up though until they are about 5 to 7" though.

my tank is a 100 gallon with all fish in my sig in the tank.could a smaller pike be added????my lfs only has smaller svenis in.they have 3 at the moment.one is approx 3 ish inches and the other 2 are 2 ish inches.i would be willing to move some fish out of my tank to add another 1 or 2 svenis.the only problem i can see is the size of the svenis that my lfs has.they wont be getting any more in either.

you know thats the wrong answer D... although it could be tried to get a pr if wanted.

its risky putting in any new pike when one has established itself. Your basically are at a limit now for the fish you have but you might be able to get away with another Sveni.
