Pike not so "pike-ish"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
True about the Silver Dollars, mine are eating the crap out of my large
Anubias.

When they are young pikes are generally more timid and more easily beat up on. Once they hit subadult/adult though is when they can really throw down. Of course some species are more aggressive than others. If you had Crenicichla sp. 'xingu I' in there at the same size, it would get beat up as well. But once it hit subadult/adult...you would have a dead dempsey more than likely. The pike can get away from the dempsey because of its selder shape, enabling it to go place where the demp. can't. Still, if the pike is showin stress too much, you might have to remove one or the other till they get a more managable size...;)

Yeah, then re-introduce them and let Mr. lucius drop the hammer leaving Mr dempsey floating. Hehehe, sweet revenge.

Dempsey beat him so Dempsey had to go. I am just going to give the lucius the 55 gal to himself.....

Update - I recently added a Bushynose pleco to his tank and he leaves him alone, but I added a Neetroplus panamensis who beats up all except cherry barbs and my pike is picking on him!!!! Ok the fish getting beat up isn't cool but my pike is being a pike!!! I plan on removing the panamensis and giving him to a good home tomorrow.
