pike on lure

If you can believe it I was actually fishing for lake trout in 100 feet for it. Fishing real deep down near the bottom. Thats what i thought it was until the big guy hit the net and was a walleye! haha This one was actually a mistake.

Nice esox, here's a couple of mine. Pike seem to fight completly different depending on where they come from. These fought like nothing ive ever seen before, never been caught before and fat in ducks and the odd trout/ eel.

Happy new year, let this year be full of bigger fish!

Wow those are some nice pike! Most impressive fish I have seen handsdown was when I saw a guy bring in out state record Lake Trout the thing had a head like a rottweiler!! 30 pounder, which isn't even that big compaired to other parts of the world! Nice fish jakethesnake.

Nice Pike!!!!
I think pike taste great. Really white flesh to them. They taste better if they are from cold water and under 10 pounds. Most people don't like them because they have an extra set of "Y" bones off the spine but if you know how to get rid of those they are great eating. Most of the ones that I catch in Northern Ontario come right up to the boat after a fight and then take a dive. That is where most pike will get away. If you let them dive and then get them next time up they make a great shore lunch.

Where do you find the time for all that fishing? I still haven't gone this winter.

I like to fish for pike with spinner baits or soft plastic stick baits (Fin-S-Fish). We fish over weed beds in 6-10 ft of water. Average size is about 20" with an occasional fish up towards 30".

nice pike!! I'm jealous I have to drive hours to be able to catch one. IMO they are one of the most underrated fish out there (maybe it's just where I'm from though, since not many around here fish for them). They fight so well, I would be nervous though using an expensive lure on them though myself. I save my banged up rapalas that aren't fishable anymore from getting hit by pike. Oh and they are just as tasty as walleye if not better IMO
