Pike problem!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well... the bigger LFS down the highway (checked it out at lunch today) has some "Red Peruvian Pikes" for sale. Just little guys. Not sure what kind they are... never stopped me before tho ;P

yea I am thinking as well, now, that it may be cloudy eye - maybe the pike was attacking him cause he was sick/weak. I've put salt in the GT's water and am feeding him antibacterial food and the eye is improving.

The Red Puruvian pikes are probably Crenicichla johanna....great pikes.

Crenicichla are some of the fastest growing of the SA fish. Which is why you need to keep them with deep bodied fish, cuz they have the ability to out grow and eat their tank mates...lol.

Pikes are hit and miss with tank mates. Some fish work with them, others don't. Sometimes it just that particular fish. You could try adding more GT's...up to three. That would help spread out the aggresion. IF you add more pikes, add AT LEAST three at a time. No less or you will really have some beat up pikes!! LoL!!

BTW....thats not a sveni. Looks more like lucuis, possibly proteus...
