Pike question!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sorry to ruin hopes fella's but unless your lucky and introduce all your pikes small at the same time, the chances of them living together in harmony is pretty much none......So, in other words, I'd agree with Rob.

Having had a tank with 5 crens at once, now with only 1, the rest had to go, didn't die but if they had stayed in the tank, they would have. Bonded pairs are possible and so are multiple pikes (cough, shawdow stryder, cough) but thats about as common as tall midget.

Yeah, I know all about chief mojo and the 900 gal. Key words here, 900gal...... In my experience with many different kinds of pikes, they kill each other. In BIIIG tanks it can be done, but in smaller tanks, death is usually the end result....

Hey did I here someone say my name.

Rob, it can be done. You forget I have three different pikes in a 125,
10.5-11" Trombeta Marm (female), 9-10" Jo (female) and 9" X1 (male). And with all honesty I do not and never have seen a bit of aggro between them.
It could just be blind luck, just a personality issue or just that they were all
raised together. Whatever the reason it has worked for me.
I would never tell peeps to do it this way. Anyone who does try it is taking a big risk. But what is life without risk.

exactly......your a lucky man. Maybe it's the differences in your pikes attitudes and size. Once the Marm established dominance did the rest fall in line?

Its like I said, I have never seen any aggro against eachother. No flaring, no chasing not anything. I take that back, my X1 male is a hog and tries to eat everything that touches the water. LOL That is the most aggro I see, but it isn't towards the other pikes, just trying to beat every other fish to the food. More like a race.

wow, nice man. Glad that worked out. I wasn't as lucky and my pikes really started hating each other just like everyone says they will. They were good for a while, but one day, that just changed outta no where.
