Adding a pike to my tank

it holds a 6" red oscar as of now but im getting a arrowana ( black silver or african dont know yet) and 4 bala sharks.

what size should the pike be so it dosent eat my fish or be eaten >?

my tanks 120 gallons and 26 in wide

im looking for a colorufl peaceful pike that wont eat the **** out of my fish :)

Thats a NICE 120gal...is that custom? wish I could find one that was 26" wide!! Thats impressive. I would suggest you get silver dollars or tin foil barbs instead of the bala sharks though. They (bala sharks) aren't exactly the best fish to be kept with large predators like arowana, unless you get them larger, as in 6" plus. They are pretty slow growers, and predators like arowana and pikes will quickly out grow them and eat them, as they are torpedo shaped. I would hold off on gettin the arowana for a bit though, their growth rates are tremendous, its crazy how fast they can grow.

As for a pike, i would get one that is at least 4" long. That way the oscar isn't gonna want to eat it, it won't be too horribly aggressive, and it will grow fast enough to keep up with most predators, might even out grow them, as they can grow pretty fast. If you want a peaceful, colorful pike, get Crenicichla acutirostris...;). They are gorgeous pikes, really laid back and mellow, and get relatively large...14" being the largest one I've heard of. Keepin it with an arowana is all your risk. Arowana get large, and have LARGE mouths, pikes aren't deep bodied, so there is a big potential for it being eaten. It has been done before, but I don't really see the point in risking it. A better candidate would be a larger pike like Crenicichla marmorata, Crenicichla strigata, or Crenicichla lenticulata...they are all larger growing pikes...pushing 18"...and gorgeous. They are way more aggressive though, so its a toss up.

Thanks for the help the tank isent custom made i bought it from the fish store for about 300 or so.

im only using this tank for 10 months then im upgrading to a 240 thats alot wider.

Everyone is giving me diff ideas and i cant decide i dont want to feed my fish feeders so i hope that helps a little.

Im so confused!

im going to the fish store tomorrow to see what all they have so ill keep u all informed :)

only thing im 100% sure about is my oscar and a arrowana.

Is your tank 60"Lx26"Wx18"T? That would be awesome to have!!!!! Aquascaping would be sooooo easy in that!!

Check out the online sellers in our buy/sell forum bro...they have pikes a lot of the time...especially www.tangledupincichlids.com ...aka Jeff Rapps. Just go to his stock list, go down to the SA cichlids and find the Crenicichla...;)...tons of pikes, from medium growing to large growing of all prices. ;)
