Very nice big male you've had him for awhile. You should try and buy a female and try to spawn them. Make sure you buy a atabapo I female though. Use oak or almond leaves to lower the ph and release tannins in the water and you can get it going. A
Couple people in Michigan have spawned them. Same pair of fish but with two different people.

I haven't bred any from the lugubris complex but I have spawned Crenicichla sveni and am trying to spawn punctata blue 33 right now.
For atabapo I I wouldn't try and spawn them in anything less than a 6-7 foot long tank especially with a male of that size. These aren't any regular flower horn or Oscar trash type cichlid you can't simply breed them in a 60 gallon. They're also a black water species so they're quite a challenge to spawn. Friend who spawned them did it in a 500 gallon. Sump was 200 gallons so really he was working with 700 gallons of water... Regardless of that I'd recommend you use RO water and oak/almond leaves and driftwood to lower the ph. They're very nice good luck with whatever you decide your male is a stunner for sure
