Hey hey!
After a lot of searching I stumbled across one of these and had to buy it. I have read a lot about them but I am after some tips from people who keep them.
I asked in another forum but they all thought I meant Gars and gave me no first hand advice.
Cheers,
George

i am keeping one, great fish.

I have not only never kept one I have never even seen one, but now that I have I want one. Not much info out on them. Likes somewhat acid water 6.2-7 pH, eats mainly fish(to more than 1/2 it's length, Mooth brooder. maxes out at 7"-8".
I love pike-like mini-monsters. Looks like a great aquistition for a 20g tank.

If you do a google there are several german sites that mention them but I don't know how helpful that is.
Here is the picture from fishbase.
Man, my wish list just got bigger.

Like these, they are the other species (L aura) I think, about 1" smaller and if I read the german right imported as the Peppermint pike-head. Or if I got it wrong just a different color phase. The sites both emphasize that the pH should be neutral or lower as they come from acidic bogs.

Yayy! Thanks Guppy. I never expected anyone to know what I was on about. Sparkly! They seem quite social with each other and group up together nicely.

Can you give me the link to the site you found the pictures on? I can't find it!!!

I have never seen them but will start watching for them, a few could fit in a 29g tank, mini-monsters!

Those things are pretty cool looking. I wouldn't mind keeping some of those.
