A "normal" spot would lack the white markings around the spot. Your fish could lose it's ocellation as it ages though. Time will tell.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. The markings around the spot are actually yellow. At what size would this fish start to lose the black line and all the other markings if it is a Ven?

I couldn't say for sure, but most lugubris pikes start to change around 6-7".

I looked again at the coloring around the spot. It is white not yellow. Don't know what I was thinking
