Wouldn't cotton break down in the water after a while?

Oh and on the bag, it says that it meets the flammability requirements of CA. Does that mean it has fire retardant on it?

i tried using gauze that my mommy brought home from her job, its sterile gauze, and was unopened until right before i put it in, it still clouded the tank, just thought id state my exp

Not so much a chemical flame retardent, as how much the material will start and sustain a burn.

email the company (or store you buy it from) for an msds (materials safety data sheet) on it to make you feel more comfortable.

i've tried emailing them 3 times, but i haven't received a response yet.

It says 100% polyester, you think that means that there aren't any chemicals added?

Ah...mommy? Dude come on ...it's Mom :D

Did you remove all your other filter media, there put in the gauze? Wundering if what you had was an ammonia spike.

Things like this bug me... ;)
