Hey all,

I have 2 spotted pictus/pim cats. I just added them to my 55 gallon tank. My 2 Jack Dempsey's started chasing them REAL quick, but it seemed ok. However, I just got home from work, and the two guys are cowering in my 2 HUGE amazon sword plants. They aren't moving at all, just hiding in the leaves. The Jacks find them, try to bite them, and they run away, then hide again. They aren't active. Any advice? Should I add a couple more?

Bobby

it seems that cichlids don't like silver pims mine didn't atleast my old female JD and my female jag hateed my fourline pim mabye its a natural instinct as they would eat there eggs in the wild

adding moer could help or make the problem bigger move them to a different tank , change the decor around or add more they should be in groups of 3-4 or more mine i have two pimelodus pictus ( spotted pictus ) and the would fight alot when there were in my 20L i moved them to a plastic Tub thats about the same length but alot wider and they stay away from each other so with the amount of room in a 55 yours might not be fighting but would do better in a larger group for aggressive purposes from them and your cichlids

Take them away from aggressive cichlids.

Why? Everywhere I have read has said it was ok, and I posed the question here long before I purchased them. Everyone here said it would be ok...

They say its okay because there usually a fast fish but that can still get torn up pretty bad if they stressed or are getting shredded your going to wan't to change somethin

....

Or maybe that was my way of saying justify your post, as you just called out about 3 dozen sources saying they are all wrong, and you are right.

the fact that your jd's are terrorizing the sh*t outa your pictus cats seems like enough justification to me...

I realize this. My point is I have had conversations in this exact forum, and other forums, and everyone says "It's absolutely fine." I talked about the EXACT setup I will do, and everyone still says it is fine. I did it, and guess what? Its not fine. So I am looking for advice on how to make it fine.

Let me get this straight. I get the advice before hand, and am told that it will be fine. I do it, and then am told that oh, yea, you can't do that...
