Sorry im coming across as a bit of a ass hole here, but Jd's are know for being aggressive and territorial, and if you had a good size group of pictus (6 or more) this would disperse the aggression but they will always be harrassed by them (not good in my opinion) and if they breed will probably kill them. the choice is yours as to what you do, but i wouldn't do it.:)

If your looking for advice, then i have give you some take them out of the situation that is going to cause them harm, what more do you want? Or is it you dont like the answer given because you dont want to remove them? You do as you like. this is a forum and will get lots of different veiws, and this is mine, i dont have to prove nothing to you or anyone else.:)

Not at all what I was saying. Reread my posts a little more carefully. I am saying I am frustrated that I now am hearing that its not a good idea. I am worried about the life of the fish. Had I known there would be a chance this would happen, I would not have added the fish. My bristlenosed plecos are fine with the JDs. I figured that they would be fine with bottom dwellers.

There is a difference in what you just said, and "Take them out." The reason I reacted to the "Take them out" comment was it is different then EVERYTHING I was told from the beginning. I wanted some justification for it.

Sorry mate, no problem :) am trying to help. Hope all goes well.:)

No worries. I was just frustrated by the sudden change in response, you know? I would not have bought the little guys....

Maybe I can drop them in my gfs community tank to grow them out a bit. They will probably eat her ghost shrimp, but oh well. I can buy her more shrimp

Yeh sure they would appreciate some fresh shrimp.:)

The thing with cichlids is that you can and always will find someone that says they have done it with no issues. But the problem is anytime you mix any fish with Africans or all cichlids for that matter there is a chance it may work and also an even greater chance that they cichlids will terrorize them. I think everyone here is just saying "hey, you gave it a shot and it didn't work for your tank" Thats all. Anyhow, good luck. I hope the catfish survive being moved to a new tank again. Don't forget they are highly suceptable to ick and other parasites especially when they are stressed.
