Pima update....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What a handsome little devil! I can tell from the last pic of him that he has grown a bit! My little pima didn't swim at the surface till today actually. You might be right that they feel safer swimming at the bottom. He would surface for a gulp of air then stay in the middle or bottom and chase his reflection on the glass. It took a little bit for him not be freak out when I go to the tank, now he comes to me cause he knows I got food for him! Thats funny that he spits out the food, Pai (the pima!) eats and it stays down! He is a little piggy!

I was just thinking, my pima is a very yung 5"1/2 ive had him for a week. So i dont see him swiming on the surface due to the fact he is yung and in the wild he would be easy prey for birds. He seems like he is attacking him self in his reflection he evin stayed on the bottam in his quorantine tank well doing circles on the side glass. I ammagine when he settles into this tank he mite go to the surface to swim more. What do you guys think? oh and he likes to kill guppys for the fun of it. I watched him do it a little while ago. his belly is full and he snatches a guppy then he spits them out like its a game he evin bites the cord to the thermomiter lol. also in the bigger tank he isnt as scared of me now.

do u keep him covered? I keep my little buger covered to reduce stress and it seems to be working. Also that is a very good video of baby pimas.... And it explains alot. Oh he eats guppys like crazy but he dois kill them for fun... Also he bites the probe for the thermomitor.....

Yeah I found the video of the baby pimas interesting, the parents were impressive! I don't keep him covered so to speak, he has a nice grouping of small pothos plants on the surface that have been growing in that tank for a bit. Before him I had EBJD fry, then before than Festae fry growing out in there. The tank itself has a versa top and a screen covering the back for ventilation and spacing for the filter and heater. Pai use to bite the probe for the thermometer so I secured it under a planter.

That is so funny about spitting out the guppies! Pai just inhales them! I still make sure to give him black worms with the turkey baster, its real comical to watch him go after the baster! Now he is learning to pick up the worms that fall on the sand, he never did that before he would just leave em and my algae eater would get em. How many times do you feed your pima? I feed mine twice a day.

I feed buger once a day with blood worms, but sence i put him in the 90gal i let him have all the guppys he wants... i have a solid piece of plexy glass on the tank with just 2 doors in the front. I put 2 pvc pipes in the back 1" for ventilation.(no excapes!) i covered the tank to reduce stress.. I will remove it when i think he starts settling in. I will be going to the lfs tommarow and getting duck weed. and some floating lillys and grass shrimp. (natrual food) and cover. His/her tank is bare as u can see just for cleanlyness. and the big pimas in the video... We only hope are pimas red colors come in like that. I was thinking of adding a little salt to his tank to help reduce stress also would bring out more colors but i do not know how he would react to this.... saterday i plan on trying a worm on a clip were he swims to see if he gois for it if he dois i will then see if i can get him on krill and stixs....

I add a little salt when I do water changes, Pai seems to be fine with it. And I had duckweed but he ate it! Good idea on the PVC pipes for ventilation didn't think of that! Yeah I thought of the shrimp when I saw the video, I'll check my LFS this weekend to see if they have any and offer Pai some. Worm clip for the blackworms or red wigglers? I chop up red wigglers for my festae and I offered him a piece and he gulped it down. I noticed his appetite got a lot bigger now that he is fully healed, he was a good eater before but now he is like a starving bullet train!!!! So you named your's Buger? Is that look Booger or Buuuger?

mine loves shrimp and when the 2 dozen i bought with the 50 guppys are gone i think he will go on frozen food. he trys to eat any thing near him. i looked at him when i got home he looks awsome.... but still not swimming at the surface yet to try him on stix....we have named him titan, buger is his nick name lol. I will be trying a hole red worm i just got some last saterday for my rtc. my lfs had got another pima in last week and it hast eatin yet i told them try shrimp lol...... i know what you mean they will eat and eat when i got my guppys and shrimp yesterday he filled so much he looked like he was dragging his belly and he still was going after any thing that moved in his swimming erea.
