I had a big one in 125 with cichlids and the catfish didnt grow much in 3 years i had it. very hardy and outgoing, yet much more timid than the regular spotted pictus. they eat anything and mine was very territorial with other similar catfish

Really how big was he when you got him and after the 3 years? I only paid $7 dollars so I'm happy anyways

I had a 4-line cat for about 6 years and he was easily 10". as others said, hardy, not picky eaters, and territorial with other cats. these cats can hold their own with larger aggressive cichlids.

I myself have three in a 55 gallon. (assuming you mean Pimelodus Blochii) They'll get a bigger home soon but for you a single one should do okay in a 70 gallon. They usually get to 10-12". 10 is more likely. As for growth rate I've had my 3 for about a year and they've only grown about an inch.

They like but do get tired of shrimp pellets. Always love blood worms. As for their aggression as of right now it hasn't been a problem. The largest of the three defended himself in an aggressive matter once against a male Odessa barb who got to aggressive with him but that was a one time thing.
They are known for eating what fits in their mouth but if it can't they don't often mess with them. Hope I've been helpful. :D

You've had 3 and they've only grown an inch in almost a year??? I have one and only had him for maybe 3 months and hes grown from 3-4" to 6" and is twice as thick. He usually just eats leftover cichlid flakes. I did have him eating brine shrimp and he loved it. Mine was somewhat active when younger but is now very shy and hides a lot; he only comes out when I shut off the tank light. I still love him and when I do see him swimming his body is like that of a shark. Mine can be territorial but usually just ignores my CA cichlids. I did try and have him in with my africans in my 125g and it didn't work out too well, he immediately went under a cave and my africans swam to him to check him out and he "waved" his body back and forth trying to get them out and also tried biting them but found himself up against a larger fish than him who just about bit him more than once (I then immediately took him out and put him back in my 75g).

Yeah I've been quite surprised by their growth rate. I'll be getting hikari carnivore pellets along with more blood worms soon to add to their diet. And they do get territorial as Crispy said.. In the grow out tank they shared with a single male Odessa barb and the barb got too close and the second largest of the three took a mouth sized piece out of his tail fin. Healed up well but that Odessa barb knows where not to go now..

Good morning.

I have had my 4-line for about 2 years now. He/she is about 10'' and is fairly placid. He/she eats He/she eats anything and everything other than vegetables; the only issue is that it doesn't enjoy proximity with other aquatic creatures. Anything closer than 3 inches and territorial aggression kicks in. He/she grew to 9'' in about 8 months and slowly increased after that.

Good afternoon everyone thank you for all the info and great stories it was a lot of help! I would still like to hear more stories :) Except for columbian's cats growth rate they seem pretty nice i'll be happy if mine grows quick, if not i still like him :) my one fish that i have no specific traits i need from him like my cichlids (ex. certain size, aggression, color) i like him no matter what :) so here he is! 3" and is also wild caught.

So he's I'm the 70g now and I don't see him at all! (Not gone just not active at all) does anyone know if he'll get more active once adjusted to the tank?
