Pine Sol ??!!

I only have apple cider vinegar in my house, I feed it to my dog :) keeps his skin healthy and he wont ever get fleas!

I just use water on a rag or paper towel.

Iam just happy my fish arent dead, I would probably cry is they died.

You sure you don't mean your child?

I mean, it was an accident, they do happen.. but I highly doubt he needs constant supervision with a fish tank...

Just to give you an idea of how hearty fish are...

I had a 125 gallon set up in my basement right below where my washer and dryer sit up stairs.. well, the washer overflowed and tons and tons of woolite soap/water went down into the basement by the wall, and went into my fish tank.. Like a ton. I didn't realize this until a few hours later... I still have all of them. :D
 
Eh idk lol he never has had fish before. The things we take as common sense is like foreign to him :p

When I was younger I dumped a whole can of similac in my Moms tank and killed all of her fish lol

I just spent so much time and money on my fish I dont want to lose them over something stupid.

I dont think he will do anything without asking anymore, it was an accident, so it should be fine. My fish all seem fine. And I think my BF learned a lesson
 
And people say there is no use for carbon. I wont repeat advise already give I will only say good luck I know how it feels to lose fish to a mistake like that. Made a careless action once but i got lucky. We had a bug problem and had been spraying the baseboard, well it had been several days and I saw a bug on top of my tank. I was just angry about the whole bug situation and said forget you bug and flicked him to my O who ate him the second he hit the water.

I almost freaked out as soon as I did it because what if he had bug stuff on him.

but lucky was on my side and I pray on yours.

I kind of wanted to feed my fish a bug I found on the floor but we spray heavily and I would worry about it poisoning my fish.

I dont think he put to much on the tank, it was diluted, and I did a water change.
It just freaked me out when he said he cleaned it with pine sol lol
 
Sounds like the BF got a lesson learned.. my husband never owned a fish before he met me.. and when we got married he inherited 7 tanks along with me and my horse. lol he's made some mistakes along the way. But it's great that he shares the hobby with me now, and If anything he worries more about them sometimes then I do. Let your BF know you appreciate his help and simply ask him to check with you if he's unsure about anything you ask him to do in reguards to the tank. my husband now does the water changes and simply haveing him help/showing him who/what/when/where/ and why has built his confidence and knowledge up. I don't worry if anything goes wrong when I'm not there anymore. I know he'll either take care of it, or call me freaking out wanting to know what he should do.
