dammm I'm so glad I got my hands on at least one of these sweet looking cichla, I owe that to you! What type of black water did you treat your tank with.. no altered color besides a little cloudiness?.. I read something some time ago on arofanatics about making "tea" from the leaves.. ever hear about it? Those aro owners on that forum keep their tanks dark.
On the 240 I am still running canister, Hob, and the 900ph. Still experimenting so on this tank I always use minimal carbon just in the hob of course. I don't use it all the time like I should ordering has become low priority. But I have a local betta dealear that deals in bags of Almond leaves. Cloudiness is water change and really needing to clean the glass haha. If you can imagine the limited filtration with XhighX oxygen and heavy feeding's my maintnance schedule is as needed! For real.
Haven't personally seen it but I have heard of afronatics amazing success. You know since the begining I have said replicate to the upmost to get there full potental and GROWTH!

I fell it is sever to give them adiquate quality of life and room to be happy. Still I need more room a lot more.

lol mfk meet at mikes house! bring your ponchos! lmfao

There cool customers when there's traffic for the most part. Of course feeding is action. At the last MFK meeting at my house they weren't to active during feeding but I figured it was because it was during there starving period. Yes I do starve them out.
For real though when your just sitting around and the tank is active

that's when I usually see people jump out there seat. Then just stare like it's going to help the water not come out.

I have had people say they were scared so it's not for everyone for sure. Pancho or not your going to get wet. Trust me!

Thats what i thought but i didnt know he had it

yea and it's pretty cool but also another one that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. For obvios reasons. Gotta have a lot of tank when the get bigger for sure. i have said this before but I wouldn't recommend mixing anything in such a small enviroment. That being said yes I do it but I have more tanks ready for retireval if a rescue or seperation is needed. Unfortunatlly this particular sp is a hard famliy to keep.
I take it you have seen it before?
