Pinima easiest sp. to get on pellets?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've never had any problems with any of my cichla eating pellets. The only hiccup I've had were with my monos because I had been powerfeeding them feeders for a few months but then they took to pellets quickly.

Never had pinima so can't really compare but in my experience (maybe i'm just lucky) cichla all are the same. just depends on how long and what they were eating before you tried to get them on pellets.

That pinima sure does like to eat some pellets Tyler. Hell I gave some live food to that tank the other day and he wasn't all that interested. He was waiting for some Massivore. lol Now if only that damn kelberi would behave that way.
same with mine

my 14" tem's are on dead food anyway so never had the problem really i normally thow a few prawns in then a pellet they take it straight away,, ditch the feeders they aint no good anyway, prawn, muscle, squid, spats, lance fish and pellets...

I agree my Pinima were my eaisest but they came to me eating pellets. So I guess that doesn't count. But the Pinima never did not take anything I offered. I still have not had any Kelberi eat anything but live. But of course I keep fry on hand 24/7. (still not a big fan of pellets for Cichla under 10'' but that's my opinion.) My Orino has been on pretty much nothing but pellets. So go figure.

I have yet to keep pinima, but I never could get my occelaris to take pellet. Even stuffed into shrimp, they would separate the pellets and spit them out.

My tems on the other hand, eat absolutely everything and will even sift sand with the geos to pick up stray pellets after feeding the tank. They are by far the most aggressive eaters I've ever kept. They were trained on hikari aro sticks at 1.5". :)
