Pink convicts hybrids?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Lutino oscars might have red eyes simply because that's the color of an oscar's eyes. Both my oscars have a reddish orange color to their eyes and nether are albino ot lutino...one is a red and the other a tiger.

albino sounds alright, are oscars the same way? I don't have oscars, and really don't like them, either, but is it the same type of thing? I think pink cons look kinda like pink severums, could they mix or have regular black n white cons mixed w/them to form the pink con.? I kinda would just like to know how they (pink convicts) came to be that way, like where and how did it start?

Convicts can hybridize with severums but that is not where pink convicts come from.

Pink convicts come from selective breeding. One day a freak convict was hatched that had an odd color. They kept breeding fish with the color, inbreeding and enhanceing the gene that created it until an entirely new color of fish was developed. It's simple genetics.

interesting

i believe that pink convicts are a gene variation LIKE an albino, not saying they are.
kinda like a Dark Eyed White ferret.

yup, pink cons are not albino, and are the result of line breeding as are marbled cons. neither are hybrids.

also, I'd be willing to bet that a "short bodied pink con" is probably a jellybean parrot. many jellybean parrots look just like a pink con but with a shorter body and sometimes puffier cheeks similar to a blood parrot. :)

pink convicts are not a hybrid
i have one
they are just like regular convicts
they are kinda like an albino but not an albino

I think they are Leucistic (sp?) convicts. Not line bred really, just a color variant. At least that's what it's called in reptiles, co-dominant no pigmentwith pigmented eyes.
