Pink Water

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hello; A vague notion has occurred to me but I cannot think it out just now. A nagging thought having something to do with litmus paper or titration. may be nothing but I posted so I can find this thread if my thinking clears up.
Hello; Have you checked the pH of the tap water (source water) Here is a suggestion. Check the pH of the source water immediately and then let the source water sit in a container for a day or so and check again.

Also check the tank water pH before a WC and after a WC.

Not sure what I am getting at with this just yet.

I haven’t checked my tap water pH in a few months now, but it’s been sitting at 7.6 consistently for the past 5-6 years. I’ll check again later today.

I had a similar problem for a while. I whould do a 100% water change on my turtle tank. I would blast the white sand substrate with hot water and little areas of deep pink stained water would come out. Never figured out what it was.
My only guess was I was pissing off some bacteria living deep on the sand bed...
