Pinkies - Good food for fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Btw, tadpoles would be fair game for FH food, as well as FW shrimp, non-dangerous swimming insect larvaes, hmm, worms.... etc.
Really just anything that you could find on the ground underwater
I'm just assuming this based on the parent species however,
It's also important to note that your FH's ancestors were probably bred primarially on some kind of malaysian or thai prepared food.

i can't imagine a single scenario where a hybrid cichlid would have any contact with mouse pinkies. and since FH are not a naturally occuring fish in the wild there is no point in discussing what they would eat in the wild, it can't happen.

i also find it highly unlikely that oscars would eat a pinky mouse in ANY circumstance in the wild. to begin with mice are not native to South America.. there are probably rodents that are native to the SA rainforest or Amazon basin, but i doubt many of them birth their babies close enough to the water for an oscar to eat them randomly. and last i heard oscars don't walk on land or climb trees very well.

I saw some videos on MFK of people feeding mice to their fish so I tried feeding one (pinkies are always frozen in uk) to my FH it ended up getting torn to shreds and not eaten LOL. It was a only a one time thing! :D

So why make this thread if you weren't going to take educated advice anyways? Keep experimenting with your fish, I'm sure they'll live a long life.
