Hi Tony, while anything is possible, unfortunately, I don't think there will be a digital freshwater nitrate meter in the near future. There is simply not enough unit volume at $249 to make the project worthwhile. Let's see what John reports after his experiment. The answer may be to just add a tiny amount of salt to the freshwater sample.

first tests looking good >>>>>

added salt to tap water reads 'low' on the 100 ppm scale

added salt to the 1.030 sg level.... sample reads 20 ppm

same as by fancy hach vacuum vial test !!!

so far so good.........will run some more tests :popcorn: :popcorn:


ps used salt water aquarium type salt......

I SPOKE WITH LOU AT THE FACTORY.....

1) i will try kosher cooking salt ( pure salt)
2) i will measure the salt level in the calibration fluids provided with the test unit and match it.


will post results.........
