It's going to take a long time to understand everything about piranha's.
Your RBPs will be growing before you know it. I purchased my single in August (I only have 1 lol) and he's grown from 2 inches to 3-3/4"!! His baby colors are fading, and his belly is starting to turn red.
Dim your lights, use peat, driftwood, or blackwater extract to simulate their natural habitat. Make territories to cut down on agression, use driftwood here, and make rock "caves" or use flower pots. plants are for visual appeal, and you can use real plants, but they'll get beaten down, so I use plastic. Sometimes they pull the leaves off, but mine hasn't yet.
I feed frozen fish filets (cut to bite-sized bits) freeze-dried baby shrimp, cichlid pellets, and occasionally carrots and cucumbers.
Try whatever white-meat fish you can until you find one that you and your fish like. Mine likes catfish, but it's a water-quality nightmare in my tank.
Keep your tank on the cool side, that'll help with aggression too. They won't grow as fast, but they are less likely to eat each other.
Have fun, and good luck!!
