can a responsible monster fish keeper keep pirahna with cichlids, or is this a big no no. I have a 180 w/ a jaguar, red devil, flowerhorn, and convict pair. Is this a recipe for disaster, or can these fish coexist.

Generally you don't mix anything you care about with piranhas.

not a chance:(

Breeding cichlids hold their ground pretty well.
I have seen two convicts back a shoal of 6 rec bellies into a corner.

However such success can not be kept when the piranhas get hungry.
There is no guarantee you can keep your piranhas stomach (hence temperament) full all the time.
It has to be a disaster waiting to happen, even if your piranhas are fairly laid back ones.

When I had may 2 cichlids About 3" in a 100 I put three of my baby serras 2" in just to see what would happen needless to say i passed out and woke up to three dead pirahnas

most pirahna should either be kept with their own ... and if u have a black pirahna should be kept all by it self... but if you wish to feed your red bellies ( lets say ) keep them with what ever u want ..even red bellies eat red belliesevery now and then giving time

I attempted a Jack Dempsey ( 6" ) with nine Red Belly's ( 3 to 4" ). He was doing fine as long as he could swim in circles, as soon as they were able to get behind him they removed most of his tail. Needless to say I took him out and gave him away. Nothing will live with Piranha for life, its just a matter of time. My friend just recently lost his pleco. It was living with his piranha for almost 5 months, then one morning it was gone.

well i have had a 2.5" con in with my 4 3.5" RBP.. im waiting for him to dissapear. he doenst have much of a tail left, but he will attack them every once in a while..
