piranha decor?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thats what i was worried about, they find the beefheart, but i have run out of shrimp so i kill my feeders for my oscars (they are quarantined) cut them up a little bit to somewhat induce bleeding and they hit it a couple times but it floats down into a small crevice where the never would think to look for food and i have waisted a feeder. but i like it, but in my mind i could care less what i think about it, i want the set-up to be the best possible for the fish.

I like JP's setup - plenty of comfort zones on the bottom as well as large swimming lanes in front and above. I've noticed from my own trial and error that too many large plants aren't appreciated by P's. I layer mine tallest in the rear of the tank, mediums in front of the tall ones, and small/ground covers in the front but not all the way to the glass. I really dig the moss on the driftwood - good biological filtration on a confinded space.

i have mine really dense in the middle, and the sides are the plainest sides, but they are still somewhat dense.

i finally got out of bed and got some pics, they aren't the best pics ever, but they give you an idea of what the tank looks like.

I think your tank looks fine, the problem is your p's are so small you have problem seeing them in there. once they get bigger you won't have that problem.
you can tie food on a fishing line or a steel leader if you worry about them bite through the fishing line.
this way you don't have to worry about the food landed on somewhere they cannot find and you can also enjoy a feeding frenzy if you have the food suspended some where in the mid level.

i will try that thank you. my family are hardcore outdoorspeople, so i should have some steel leader in one of the many tackle boxes. thanks again.

Just an FYI - the plants w/ white and green varigated leaves on the front right side are bog plants as is the one in the middle rear, sorry I can't remember the name. They will not survive being 100% submerged nor will they survive in your substrate, just leave a bunch more messy dead leaves on the bottom.

yea, had that in my tank once that came with a plants pack from petco and it died within few weeks.

oh, didn't know that. they look like they are surviving, but i have had some die on my. thanks. those are the only live plants i have in there atm, but i plan on getting more. only when they get bigger tho. can anyone ID them from the 1 pic i was able to get of them?
