haha had no idea this was in fishing forum..
but just go buy the frozen or fresh shrimp from your local grocery store.. i peeled the shell off when my guys were too small to chomp through it.. but now they can easily take em down whole..

if u want ur p"s to eat healthy you can give them little slices of raw patato! its healthy and p's love em!and african chiclid small pellets my p's love them too.and krill
Feed them vegetables and plant matter (African cichlid pellets are plant matter.) will not make them healthy, they are piranha's not pacus.piranhakeeper69;3471903; said:

it may sound funny but giving carrion-eating piranhas potatoes will have horrible effects on them like cause them gas which in a fish is NEVER good.
To answer the bearded guys question, the fight against feeding goldfish and the fight against feeding live are not the same. smart people who feed live fish know that goldfish and all other species of carp/koi are BAD feeders because of a growth chemical they produce that they developed via evolution to keep them small in a tight space and grow in a big space.
another fish consuming this chemical won't nessesarily "pass-on" this ability but its just not healthy since it acts as a saturated fat and can "drug" a fish to make it lethargic and all other kinds of problems in the long term.
