piranha growth?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, that's obviously a happy fish, I'm glad to hear he has a good appetite on him!! :D I'm sure if you guys got him into a bigger tank, you might get another inch or two out of him....I'm really curious as to what piranha keepers are missing that the Amazon has...Maybe it's the other kinds of fish that they eat there? Or maybe the dry season encourages them to gorge and therefore get larger?

When someone figures it out, let me know!!

How's his lip doing, btw? :D

i really do doubt that he will grow that much if he does at all.

maybe in the amazon it's just the endless space and food supplies that keep them growing...i'm not really sure. then on the other hand...they have more parasites present that could stunt their growth. it may be one of those things we never really know.

i have never been one to keep fish in a crappy environment and he seems very content. he just chills in the current from the powerhead and feeds on anything that hits the water.

dont feel offended. i just say maybe ur tank size is the reason why he stopped growing. just trying to help here

he was wild caught. he never has grown as he was 13" when i got him. i have just heard that even in much larger tanks they just don't grow.

i guess most fish do have a larger max size in the wild versus max size in aquaria.
