I think King Kong was much better than the 70's remake, it was just done well and is timeless like the original. Charlie and the Chocolate factory were better as well, though I'm neutral on the oompa loompas, there are a lot of LP (little people) actirs who need work, yet the originals freaked me out. I like the fact Depp made Willy more of a scared shut in than a showman, and didn't try to copy Wilder. The rest Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hills Have Eyes , Amittyville Horror all seem to just want to show off new special effects and with most horror flicks are just gory. Though I like Captain Spaulding and crew as their films are kinda campy and nostalgic. I guess it comes down to how it's done. I would like to see a good remake of Bullitt, only if it's done well though.
