Piranha rescues

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sure thing, those are some good looking piranha, you don't see them that size often. Good luck with them!
Judging by the size of the fish and equipment they have, they have been cared for in the past but they were abandoned with a house mate who had no idea what to do with them. I will keep the thread updated with their progress. Hopefully my students will become very well practiced in maintaining water quality.. are there any safe gloves recommended for working with these fish? I have a tank divided I can use but it would be good to be able to use gloves too.

no reason to use gloves...pygos are more inclined to run from you lol, if you mean gloves as to avoid their teeth that is, I work bare handed in my elong piranhas tank and he would happily bite a finger if he was hungry enough, never taken a bite yet lol and he's an angry little serra species

I'd happily work without gloves but because it's a college and students aren't always that aware of what's going on around them I will have to have risk assesssments and safety measures in place At the moment they haven't eaten. We've offered food twice but its early days. We did loose one over the weekend sadly.
