I have 5 Red Bellies that are about 4 to 5 inches. They are constantly nipping and chasing each other around. Just a couple days ago I woke up and one of them has a dime size chunk of skin and flesh missing from his side. I think that is just part of owning Piranha.
Hi, my name is norma, I have had 4 redbellies and i only have two now. They ate eachother. And the two that i have right now are missing part of their noses. Can they go with oscars? They are big already.

i have a buddy who has seven red bellies in a 55 gal. other than the normal nip and tail loss he hasnt really had to much problem with them.

I've had two Tigershovelnoses in a tank with 8 Redbellies for almost 8 months now.. From my experiences.. you can keep Redbellies with some other tankmates depending on how well fed they are, what the food sources are,.. and of course the kind of tankmates is the biggest variable.. Fish that are very active will attract the attention of your pirhana.. and then suffer the capitol punishment.. hehe

I have had in the past black P's.. nothing lives with those guys.. nothing

Oscars and P's go together like acids and bases, the same thing with only having to Ps.

You should never have only to Ps as there is nothing to dilut the agression, 1 p okay, 3-one million Ps okay, 2ps no good.

anyway piranah of the pygocentrus genre are loose shoaling at best, they will always batlle over food, dominance, territroy, mates and just plain nipping. dont besurprised when one gets wounded in battle, after all every one knows the old saying, it all fun and games till someone loses an eye. which is not all a to uncommon in a shoal of ps
