Piranha Sistuations

My 3 Red Belly Piranhas just shredded a plecostamous!
The pleco was about the same size as the three of them are.
Skull of pleco was against filter intake (only the skull)


Anybody have this situation with Red Belly Piranhas & a Common Pleco??

rbp's can eat anything, depends on a lot of things.
Could be tank size, how hungry they are, and each individual fish has its personality.
some p's can never be housed with anything and some can.

do you have red belly piranha's that have shredded a pleco??

ok, that made no sense....if they'll eat every pleco, why the hell would i put another one in there then, if they'll eat it???

I had three tiny 1 inch red bellies. Took em 3 hours to nip a 5 inch pleco to death.

my piranhas always take out most of the plecos I add to their tank, the only ones that survived are the ones that never go out of hiding.
but like alys said, some p's won't bother pleco and some will shred it into pieces.

Sounds like you let them get hungry Just feel lucky that one of your RDP didnt get eaten...

2 of my piranhas are about 4.5" and 1 is a bit smaller about 3", my pleco was 5"
