i feel you! i lost a 7in RBP today! :( i have 5 and 4 of them have been spawning here and there so i dont know what happend really but it sucks!! so i guess even numbers are the way to go. yeah keeping the temp up around 80-82 they are alot more aggressive!! IMO

Well now im down to 2 Red belly again. They ate the other small one today. Bit his tail off then just attacked him. Out of the blue for no reason, I was watching it from the couch but once I saw what happened no point trying to save him. Already dead..

Honestly, not trying to be rude but you were on the couch and couldn't prevent it? From my pesonal experience, i notice a disturbance before they get to the point of biting each other...you can kind of sense it...i just pop up (that usually scares them) and flip on the light which puts them all into hiding.

However, if you didn't see the inititial disturbance i agree that there's nothing you can do. How big of a size difference are we talking about as you've now had 3 picked off by 2 you describe as bigger?

This is BS, My RBP wont even kill rosey reds... all they eat is pellets shrimp, worms and dead feeders that my gar tear up. They are just babys but still. Ive seen other RBP their size eating the eyes out of small cichlids. As a matter of fact.. one of the minnows has become part of the pact. If i didnt see their little jaw, I would think they were pacu.

Cannibalism starts at a 1/4"!! I have 1/2"rbp babies that'll tear up a goldfish twice their size! I try to keep a goldfish in all my rbp baby tanks (cleanup crew)but I'm always throwing a new one in! Piranhas can n will eat each other! I agree if you see one getting picked on, turn light on, stick your arm in tank n switch something around or anything really. You might save him that day!he might be food tomarrow but you might save him today! Welcome to the wonderful world of piranhas!! Hope for the best but exspect the worst!don't be surprised if you lose one once in a while! They like live food!if you don't give it to them every now n then they will find it one way or the other!! IMO anyhow!

Ahh yes, trials and errors of keeping Piranha. I remember those days. Comming home to see a $500.00 Piraya half way eaten and still alive. Im keeping Discus now, no drama here. Good luck monsta!

Those constant water changes sound like drama to me. lol, discus fishkeepers are much much better fish keepers then i ever will be. I've got much respect for anyone that does that constant of water changes
