Piranhas help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the only thing is my fish supply is very limited , so if i am to get one it is just what is availible, right now i can get nickel sized red breasted piranhas, i may get 3 then for my 10 gallon and in a month upgrade

dude...I wouldn't even think about keeping a single RBP in a 10g....at any size. I would say maybe a single exodon could live in a 10g but that would be pushing it.

if you can and will be able to upgrade in one month then I'd say wait a month then get those piranhas.

they grow very fast the first few months.. up until 6-7 inches.. it only took mine 5 months to get to 6 inches long..

it seemed like they would grow 1/2 an inch a week.. and that was in a 75 gallon.. i would think if you kept them in a 10 they would only be able to live there for like 2 weeks.. and if you kept them in there longer it could possibly stunt their growth.

if you really want a RBP just get a single one and a 29 gallon tank.. or a 55 :D

i suppose your right i just had the itch to get a new fish fast, i will wait

Good decision. Get a bigger tank. If you have 3 red belly's you'll need a 55 at least. Preferably larger (or if you plan on going larger) I have 4 in a 55 right now but they are going into a 125. Don't let this set you back though, if you really like them and are willing to care for them I say work on it. Check craigslist etc for cheap used tanks. They are great little buddies.

they shouldnt even make 10 gallon tanks!

they are good for bettas and parents that want fish to die so they don't have to clean their kids tank :P, yeah though i am waiting for them probably won't be for a bit now though insurance went up :irked:
