is a 5" black piranha for $130 good deal?

I bought a 6" for $100 and seen them as low as $80. I believe they come cheapest outta peru so collection point may be a factor.

nobody said something about counting right? well base on my experience, before I had a small group of RBP's, 6 of them and they are well feed. When I came back home I notice that there are only 5 of them now. They cannibalize their own. This was my first incident. The second one was when I got 4 new juvenile RBP's, again same thing happen, now there are only 3. I dont know if it is coinsidence or what, but IMO they tend to size up each other, specially in small groups.

does anyone have any suggestion of how many RBP's I should keep in a group to make them moderately aggresive but without making them stressed? i've heard that if you keep less than 4 RBP's, they tend to be more shy. is this true?

that's not entirely true. some member has solo rbps and claim that they are very agressive. it all comes down to the personality of the fish and how much time you spend in front of the tank. once the fish get used to you then it'll be less shy.

the number of rbps you can keep in a tank is determined by the size of your tank. general rule of thumb is 20 gallon per fish but I'm sure many of us don't live by that rule. rules are meant to be broken~!!!! LOL
I think if you have a really large tank you can keep more than 20 gallon per fish.

the numbers to follow are only 3 or more.
