Piranhas with exodon as tank mates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if you want to feed your piranhas an expensive treat, then go ahead. otherwise i advise against doing so

go for it... just add lots of places for them to get away if needed

also maybe introduce them with a lot of feeder/cheap tetras, so they get taken out before he does. so that the exodon has a chance to get used to the territory and stuff first. when I got mine, I also had around a dozen rosey red feeders and 3 white clouds. which were gone in a few days, but i think this might have helped the exodon survive???

Exodons have been used by many public aquariums as tank mates for piranhas.

They are a shoaling fish so you should have at least a half dozen.

For a hobbyist the size of the tank often determines whether they can be a tankmate. The smaller the tank the better chance the piranha can catch and eat them. In a larger tank 300g or more the exodons will do very well.

Remember they are a scale eater and can attack pirhanas if given enough room to utilize their speed.

Maybe in a huge tank but I dont think your P's are so large that they would ignore the exo's. Maybe a 15" rhom or piraya.

let me know how it works i have many other fish with my ps and hiding places are verry important very

I have lots of P's and some are 15" Piraya and Rhombus. My oldest Rhom is 26 years in my tank. I've had shoals of 50 adult Exodons.
